Dear Heart for Haiti Walkers-

We were all disappointed we had to postpone the Hearts for Haiti Walk from this weekend until next. While we have been inconvenienced by an ice storm,  it is nothing compared to what the people in Haiti have been going through.

We had a week notice that this storm was coming and most of us had the chance to stock up on food, make winter storm plans and hunker down with our families and friends.  Those in Haiti had no such warning.  While we have places to stay warm, millions of Haitians are without any buildings for shelter.  While our pantries are stocked, there is little food to be found in the quake zone.  While we can turn on our facets for clean water, many survivors spend their entire day trying to find a drink.  While our kids are safe at home, thousands of Haitian children no have neither a home nor their parents to take care of them.  They have lost everything.

These are just a few reasons to participate in the Heart for Haiti Walk.  We must wait an extra week, but the need will be just as great next weekend as it is this weekend.  It is now scheduled for next Saturday (Feb. 6) from 8:30-10:00 at Crossroads Mall.  So while you are at home waiting out the ice, here are a couple things you might do:

1.  Take a moment to call a friend or family member and invite them to join you on the walk next Saturday.

2.  Ask a neighbor and friend to sponsor you on your walk.

Your small effort can greatly impact someone's life. Stay warm and safe and we will see you next Saturday.

Thanks for your heart for Haiti,

Jourdan Selim-Guyton
